If your host is operating from behind a corporate firewall the script ti-sdk-ubuntu-env-setup may fail on steps involving apt-get and the utilities such as minicom will not install (even though you set network proxy as directed in the VBOX setting). In this case you will need to add a proxy file in etc/apt/apt.conf.d

Dave, I saw that too, something strange with vbox/ubuntu maybe. The typical export http_proxy=<myproxyurl>:80 which works fine on my ubuntu notebook did not work here and I had to add file user@user-desktop:/etc/apt$ more apt.conf Acquire::http::Proxy "<myproxyurl>:80";
