Overview[edit]

LegacyHelmet1.png

Think about all the head related injuries football players suffer from after repeated blows to the head. Wouldn't it be great for coaches to know if their player might get a concussion before it happens? Thankfully, our team, Legacy, is creating a football helmet that will record impact data with an accelerometer and upload this data to a web server via WiFi so coaches can get real time data about how hard their players are being hit. This technology will allow coaches to pull players out before serious head injuries occur, effectively reducing the number of football related concussions. The helmet which we've named the "Legacy Helmet" will be available June 1st, 2015.

Features[edit]

LegacyLaunchpad1.png
  • Record impact data, temperature, humidity
  • Uploads data to website in form of charts
  • WiFi enabled up to 100 yards
  • Lasts longer than a game of regulation football
  • Shock resistant
  • Helmet follows football helmet safety regulation
  • Designed to look like a normal helmet
  • Fully replaceable and rechargeable battery

How It Works[edit]

  • The launchpad, powered by battery, records data from inside the helmet
  • The launchpad sends this data in 10 second intervals to conserve battery via WiFi to TI’s Exosite
  • In the Exosite, the data is logged and graphed in a way that the user can read and understand simply
  • The user can read and use the data to determine if a player is being overworked or if a player has suffered an impact to the head too great to continue playing safely
