A candidate stable release is a branch in SVN while other development can continue on the mainline. The candidate release under goes testing on one or more of the OMAP/DM devices. Any issues that are resolved are merged back into the mainline. A list of the tests run, known issues, tested OMAP/DM device, and other information related to cadidate testing are captured in the release notes. The released software is tagged in SVN.
A step-by-step explanation of the release process can be found on the [CreatingARelease | Creating a Release] page.
