Introduction[edit]

This guide provides the assembly instructions for mounting two right angle pin headers to the EK-TM4C1294XL Connected LaunchPad for use with a breadboard.

Prerequisites[edit]

Install Components[edit]

The TSW-149-08-F-S-RA header shown on the left has a shorter (2.3mm) lead, while the TSW-149-09-F-S-RE shown on the right is roughly twice as long (4.8mm)

STEP ONE

Please take a moment to note the difference between the two right angle connectors.

Insert the TSW-149-08-L-S-RA into the breadboard. Then install the EK-TM4C1294XL onto the connector pins.

STEP TWO

Take the shorter RA header and press it into the breadboard. Be careful not to bend the leads. With header mounted firmly in the breadboard, slide the EK-TM4C1294XL onto the right angle header pins. Solder the first and 49th pin first for best alignment. Solder the remaining pins.

Remove the EK-TM4C1294XL and the now attached RA header from the breadboard. Install the RE header. Insert back into the breadboard before soldering the RE header.

STEP THREE

Remove the PCB+RA header fixture from the breadboard. Next take the RE header, align the matte tin right angle pins with the second row of through holes on the PCB, and slide it into the board.

Now, carefully reseat the PCB+RA+(loose RE) fixture back into the breadboard. With the RE header loosely in place, adjust the fixture to ensure the board is at a right angle, lines up with the center of the breadboard, and that all header pins have good alignment. Tack the pin at each end of the RE header to the PCB with solder to help keep alignment.

Finally, solder the rest of the pins on the RE header to the PCB.

STEP FOUR

Print this image and cut out for pin out reference. Scaling may be required for proper alignment.
