CCS UniFlash v4.0 SD510 Support

From Texas Instruments Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Overview[edit]

UniFlash v4.0 no longer natively supports Spectrum Digital 510 debug probes. However, there is a way of adding support for the command line interface only. It is important to note that this is only possible on Windows. This is because the 510 USB software stack is not supported on native 64bit environments and on Linux and Mac UniFlash is 64bit. UniFlash will also be moving to be a 64bit native Windows application. That is expected in late 2017. At that time it will not be possible to use Spectrum Digital 510 class debug probes with the latest UniFlash. User older versions is an option.

Steps[edit]

  1. Start UniFlash, or go to the online version
  2. Select your device
  3. Select xds100v2 for the connection type (we'll change it later)
  4. Press start
  5. Use UniFlash normally (set properties, upload files to flash etc)
  6. Select "Standalone Command Line" and press "Generate Package"
  7. Unzip the uniflash_windows_##.zip file somewhere (we'll call it c:\uniflash_cli for subsequent steps)
  8. Download the SD installer from here
  9. Change the extension of the downloaded file to .zip and extract the executable within
  10. Run the installer and point it to c:\uniflash_cli\ccs_base
  11. Create a valid ccxml file for your device and SD510 using CCS
  12. Copy that ccxml file over the ccxml file in c:\uniflash_cli\user_files\configs
  13. Open c:\uniflash_cli\user_files\settings\generated.ufsettings in a text editor and find and replace "Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe" with "Spectrum Digital XDS510USB Emulator_0"
  14. You can now use dslite on the command line to flash with all the default options you previously configured

Limitations[edit]

  • Works on windows only
  • Works on the command line only - similar steps will not make this work in the UI
