CC3100 & CC3200 FTDI Flashing

Instruduction[edit]
All new boards should already have the correct FTDI templates flashed into the FTDI chips. However, if your board is not recognized, installing the driver from the SDK is not working, or the built-in FTDI template is corrupted, you'll need to flash the FTDI chip again.
The software used here is FT_PROG, which you can obtain directly from the FTDI website.

FT_PROG EEPROM Programming Utility[edit]
FT_PROG is a free EEPROM programming utility for use with FTDI devices. It is used for modifying EEPROM contents that store the FTDI device descriptors to customize designs.
Note: FT_PROG requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 installed on your system to run the application. This can be obtained from the Microsoft Website. If your system does not have .NET 4.0 installed please download the file from the above link. To install, double click on the dotnetfx.exe

FTDI drivers[edit]
The FTDI drivers are part of the SDK released. Refer to the download page for access to the SDK release.
CC3100/CC3200 FTDI Programming Steps[edit]
If your CC3100/CC3200 is not recognized, install the FTDI D2XX driver.
- Install the the FT_PROG
- Connect the USB cable between the PC and your target board.
- Install either CC3200_SDK and/or CC3100_SDK package, depending on what platform you are using.
- Open FT_PROG and press F5 (or refresh) to refresh the list of connected FTDI devices.
- Right click the device and select erase.
- Right click the device choose Apply Template -> From file and choose the corresponding .xml template file from the download section above.
- Press Ctrl+P
- Reset board by unplugging and plugging USB cable.
